Ma Yansong was first thinking of creating a tunnel-like architecture for dogs, and placing a meat-shaped rug on its side. However, the rug by itself looked much more interesting as a scene, so we decided to focus on the rug. It is unclear whether dogs will be able to enjoy this piece of architecture. However, “Architecture for Dogs” is also architecture for humans who live with dogs.

Beijing-born architect Ma Yansong holds a Master’s Degree from the Yale University. He is the first Chinese architect to design an overseas landmark. In recent years, Ma follows the design philosophy “Shanshui City” that aims to create a new balance among human, nature and society through architecture. Since the “Floating Island” in 2002, Ma has created a series of imaginative works, including Lucas Museum of Narrative Art, Absolute Towers, Hutong Bubble 32, Ordos Museum, and Harbin Cultural Island, etc.
